Supporting the next generation to go further

The last couple of years have tested all of us in many ways. We know it's been especially hard for vulnerable young Australians as they battle higher levels of unemployment, financial insecurity and mental health issues. They need real support more than ever. That's why we're investing in Australian youth and building meaningful employment outcomes for young people across the country.

Bike Rescue Dismantle

Dismantle (WA)

We partner with Dismantle to assist with their BikeRescue program for at-risk young people. During the BikeRescue program, participants fully strip and rebuild two bikes. The first is donated to charity, which earns them the second one to customise and keep for themselves.

Participants are then supported through the BikeRescue program into a work placement with one of Dismantle’s social enterprises. They are also supported on their exit, with the ultimate goal of each participant securing long-term employment.

Green Collect (VIC)

We're supporting Green Collect in the expansion of their employment for youth in the justice system program, creating over 30 new jobs for young people and 45 employment pathways over the next three years.

Green Collect, collects hard-to-recycle items from the office and home and find ways to re-use these in the community or make them into other products. Through this, they create work opportunities for young people and refugees who have faced barriers to employment, and provide a pathway to meaningful and skilled jobs in the growing sustainability industry.

Kick Start (NSW)

We currently have Kick Start cafes at our assets in Glendinning, Wetherill Park, Prestons and Parramatta and are looking for further opportunities to expand this partnership throughout FY22. Since the inception of our partnership with Kick Start, 12 young people have graduated from their pathway program.

The initiative enables them to gain valuable qualifications (Certificate III in Hospitality) and teaches them barista skills and how to operate a mobile food trailer café. The program also provides trainees six months employment and then supports these young people into further career or learning experiences.

White Box Enterprises (QLD)

We partner with White Box Enterprises, a large-scale, jobs-focused social enterprise builder with a big goal - to create 5000 jobs for young, disadvantaged Australians by 2030. Their mission is to transform Australia’s youth employment system by building, replicating and supporting large-scale, work-integrated social enterprises that fill clear market gaps and can employ 50+ people.

We provide support with negotiations, tenders and fitouts as they acquire properties to house their growing social enterprises. In the future, we also hope to provide support through social procurement, and work hand in hand with many of White Box social enterprises.
