Together with our long-term partner, social enterprise Two Good Co, we are proud to be named the National Social Procurement Trailblazer in the 2022 Social Traders National Game Changer Awards for our new sustainable soap dispensers. This comes one month after winning the NSW award.
In 2021, Two Good Co won the tender to provide soap to our national Office portfolio. Now, a year later, we have manufactured 5,000 touch-free soap dispensers made from ocean plastic. This has seen 2.5 tonne of plastic removed from the ocean and repurposed.
Importantly, the initiative also generates social impact, with the revenue of soap sales going directly to Two Good Co’s Work Work program, which provides paid employment for women who have survived domestic violence and homelessness.
Charter Hall Chief Experience Officer, Natalie Devlin, said, “We are thrilled to be recognised for an initiative that does so much – from driving positive environmental and social outcomes to enhancing workplace experiences and providing an essential product for our tenant customers.
“By partnering with Two Good Co, we are creating opportunities for women to regain their financial independence and confidence, with paid employment and support. Pleasingly, the revenue from the soap sales has now provided over 240 hours of paid work for some of the most vulnerable women in our community.”
It’s not just Charter Hall assets that are stocking Two Good Co’s soap products: they are also in demand with other buildings, where more than 1,100 dispensers have been purchased. With the extension of Two Good Co’s offering to include dispensers, the social enterprise can now compete with other commercial soap suppliers and increase its positive impact on communities and the environment.
Two Good Co Founder and CEO, Rob Caslick, said, “One of the challenges of scaling our soap supply was the reliance on single-use plastic. Our ongoing collaboration with Charter Hall has provided resources to discover new and sustainable opportunities. The end result is an environmentally friendly, locally manufactured soap dispenser that drives social change and inclusion through employment.”
