The centre was significantly expanded and refurbished in 2006, and was purchased by Charter Hall in August 2012. Since then the centre has undergone a centre ambience upgrade in 2018, to reflect the local coastal landscape that surrounds the centre. The centre is anchored by 4 majors retailers including Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and Kmart, plus Dan Murphy’s and The Reject Shop as well as 71 specialty stores. Bateau Bay Square continues to strengthen its position in the Central Coast region as a convenient retail, food and service offering for both the local community and the sizeable tourism market.
